Mass Effect Tabletop

Mass Effect Tabletop is our process of turning the award winning video game into a tabletop role-playing game (not-for-profit, of course).  We’ll be using Mutants and Masterminds 3E from Green Ronin as our vehicle, and we respect the rights of all parties involved.  We’re not going to talk much about gameplay, except where it’s relevant to the issue of converting it – we’re more interested in converting the game’s fantastic concepts.  Articles are written by Jonathan Baldwin, and please, feel free to ask questions below, or in any of the individual articles.  Enjoy!

  1. Definitely going to keep up with this series… talked about converting Mass Effect to D20 Modern/Future for quite a while with my group and finally gave up on the idea. I’m interested to see how this works out for you. Good luck!

  2. Is there gonna be any more done in this series? It’s pretty awesome!

    Any thoughts about ship design?

  3. The project will return; I had to go on hiatus for academic reasons, but it will be continued.

I may have to amend some of my previous work, too, as a good deal of my thinking has changed since playing the Mass Effect 3 demo.

Ship design… I would build most ships as equipment by combining the headquarters rules with the vehicle rules. Most of the time, they’ll either be background or a plot device anyway, taking a backseat to the gun fights on the ground.

  4. Well as for ship design, that’s very easy.

You can link points from any character that wishes to contribute equipment points to build a “Base”. You just give to the ability to fly and “Space Travel” along with whatever kind of bonuses you think would apply. Such as defense systems, computers, gym, living space, lab, holding cells, fire prevention systems, security systems, hanger, and so on.

  5. Hey I stumbled upon this recently. I’m not sure if you’re still updating but it seems like all the hero lab files seem to be missing.
