On making vampires that your players will never forget and always fear…

Guess what?  I’m a professional writer.  Yup, I finally dove into writing material for roleplaying games, and I’m getting paid for it.

“But that’s easy! Everyone’s doing it.”

Well, sure, anyone can probably write something and put it up on DrivethruRPG, so I guess in that respect I’m a little fish in a pond full of little fishes.  But, publishing RPG material is a goal that I set a while ago, and I did it.  Finally.  I’ve written two products, and I’m really, really proud of them.  But it wasn’t all me; Adam Bragg and Jacob Blackard killed it with layout design and editing, respectively.

Honestly, I felt really good writing these, and I’m very satisfied with both.  Truly Terrifying Vampires came in at 26 pages, and Thornroot Hill knocked back 16.  I have other projects in various stages, and I’m super jazzed about them as well.

Faced against a deranged and deadly living vampire, can your players survive the night?

If you’d like to read more about them, just click on their images.  Go ahead, I wouldn’t mind at all…

So, this post is about two things, really.  (1) I want to put it out there that I’m writing… and publishing… and that it feels awesome.  I’m proud of myself.  Writing has always been my creative outlet, and now I’m taking it further.  (2) I KNOW there are a lot of people who want to write RPG material in a professional capacity.  If that’s you, then just do it.  Type your stuff up, figure out the steps, plan it out, ask for help, and just do it.

Thanks for reading, and game on.

P.S. Kudos to Adam and Jacob.  You guys rock.

Chris Stevens

In Chris's opinion, the very best vices are dirt bikes, rock music, and gaming, while the very best medicine is fatherhood. If he could just learn to balance them all, he'd live forever. He's much more creative than intelligent, often wakes up belligerent, and ponders many things insignificant. Lastly, in an effort to transform his well-fed body, P90X, Roller Blades, and Food are all laughing at him. And the pain continues.

  3. Congrats, keep at it.

  4. Thanks for the shout out Chris, I had a lot of fun doing the layout for you. I was also impressed with Jacob’s editorial chops. Anyone would be lucky to have him edit their material!

  5. It was super cool to work with Adam and Chris to put these out into the world! I think it’s real quality stuff.

  6. Adam and Jacob… I’m locking you guys down.
