Why am I backing Robert J. Schwalb’s Shadow of the Demon Lord?

Because Rammstein.  That’s why.  And other reasons…

Shadow of the Demon LordShadow of the Demon Lord is a cross between typical fantasy and messed up darkness.  It’s really dark fantasy at it’s core.  The game system is easy to learn, plays fast, and requires little preparation to play (something that both novice and veteran players will appreciate, I’m sure).

  1. I love it because it’s fast and brutal.
  2. I love it because it’s a fun game, one that lets us tell more stories.
  3. I love it because it’s awesome for both one-shots and campaigns.

Ever since playing A Song of Ice and Fire (in which Robert was the lead designer), I’ve been a fan – so I’m grateful for being let in on the process of this awesome project.  Over the last year I’ve seen its progression from rough draft to one polished and kick-ass game.  Shadow of the Demon Lord has turned out to be one god-damned awesome game.  I’m backing it simply because I want to play more of it.

I have backed exactly two projects on Kickstarter, and this will be my third.  If you need further explanation as to why I am backing Robert J. Schwalb’s Shadow of the Demon Lord, the answer is Rammstein…

Chris Stevens

In Chris's opinion, the very best vices are dirt bikes, rock music, and gaming, while the very best medicine is fatherhood. If he could just learn to balance them all, he'd live forever. He's much more creative than intelligent, often wakes up belligerent, and ponders many things insignificant. Lastly, in an effort to transform his well-fed body, P90X, Roller Blades, and Food are all laughing at him. And the pain continues.

  1. Backed. I also saw Shane Hensley of Savage Worlds fame is writing one of the stretch goal adventures. Looks like a great game. Funding level is going well, so lots of stretch goals met already. All that and Rammstein.
