The Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Game may have been cancelled but there are lots of books still out there to be purchased and games to be played. The core of the system is also available in the Cortex Plus Hacker’s Guide. So with that in mind I’m preparing a few new Marvel Datafiles.
First up is the 3-D Man. Delroy Garrett is the modern incarnation of the 1950s hero of the same name. He is perhaps more well known as the Avenger Triathlon, but took on the name 3-D Man right before the Secret Invasion. He is a critical player in the Secret Invasion story line, but was a supporting player through many other marvel moments. This version is actually post the Secret Invasion iteration but it won’t take much to switch it up for other events.
To use him in the Marvel Breakout Scenario change his name to Triathlon, reduce his senses to d8, and Drop the See The True Dimension SFX. In Civil War he had sided with Captain America’s Resistance, but his history with deception working against him would be more than enough to justify a Pro-Registration Stance. During the Initiative he spends some time at Camp Hammond before being assigned as leader of the Point Men in Hawaii. It is at this point that he takes the 3-D Man name and gains his power to pierce disguise via the original 3-D Man’s glasses.
Use the sheet as is at that point. You can add the Gear Limit, specific to the SFX, but by the end of the Secret War arc he discovers he had the power all along, and the glasses just helped him focus.

Sharon Carter is one heck of a woman. There’s no super soldier serum here, no cosmic rays, no mutation and no high tech suit. Everything she can do comes from her own human abilities. She’s one of SHIELD’s top agents, trained in combat, espionage and computers. She’s proved herself worthy of being the Director of SHIELD and even an Avenger, but she always falls back to field work in the end. She likes being in the middle of it all, and she’s one of the best.
Dazzler was originally intended to be a multi-media tie in character. Marvel writes a comic, a studio makes a movie, everyone profits. The movie deal never made it into production and the character got cancelled and reworked five or six times before Marvel finally decided to just go with the character they had spent so much time working on.
Even if you’re not a fan of comic books you’ve probably heard of Morgan le Fay. She was the student and then nemesis of the famous wizard Merlin. She’s also battle the legendary King Arthur, and depending on whose telling the story was alos his lover and/or sister.
If you happen to be following the current releases from Margaret Weiss Productions, you’re probably right in the middle of a Civil War campaign. There have already been three supplements released for this event and it has provided a wealth of new datafiles for the Marvel universe. So much so that I really haven’t been creating new datafiles myself.
Rachel Summers is a complicated character. She’s the daughter of Scott Summers and Jean Grey, but not that Scott Summers and Jean Grey. You see, there was an alternate future called Days of Future Past. It was no good. So Rachel sent Kitty Pryde back into the body of her younger self, thus changing the time stream, and then Rachel went back to try to fix things and got stuck in the past. Then she got stuck in the future and brought Scott and Jean into the future as well to raise Cable, her kind of half-brother, but also a clone.
Captain Britain! He’s like Captain America. . .with a staff instead of a shield. . . and you know. . .Imperialism. Well that might be how he started but he’s come a long way since then. Captain Britain was one of the first Marvel UK character to be properly tied to the main Marvel Universe. He’s been a solo hero through much of it, but he’s probably better know for his work with MI-13 and Excalibur.
Quicksilver is a character that. . .well what can I say, I don’t like him. He’s arrogant, whiny and makes horrible decisions. He’s been a hero, a villain, and a jerk. Sometimes he’s a valued member of the Avengers, X-Factor or the X-Men. Other times he’s acting on his own or with his father, Magneto. He’s the real villain behind House of M, so if you decide to run that event like I did, be sure to make his battle a tough one. He’s got a couple of d12s to throw around and he’s not afraid to do so.
The Scarlet Witch is a very interesting character within the Marvel Universe. She started off as a villain, working for Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Back then, she fired simple hex bolts and had very little control over the results of her powers. She soon became an Avenger, and has since become a staple member of the group. Her powers have changed as well, becoming much more powerful (like a number of Silver Age heroines). At times, she’s been a nexus of chaos magic and at other times she’s had the ability to twist reality itself.
