Chris Stevens

In Chris's opinion, the very best vices are dirt bikes, rock music, and gaming, while the very best medicine is fatherhood. If he could just learn to balance them all, he'd live forever. He's much more creative than intelligent, often wakes up belligerent, and ponders many things insignificant. Lastly, in an effort to transform his well-fed body, P90X, Roller Blades, and Food are all laughing at him. And the pain continues.

It’s Take a Break Sunday again!  Relax, chill, and just take it easy. Whenever I’m feeling down about myself, or need motivation to get into shape, I watch this guy – specifically, this video of this guy – with cool music to boot!  What can I say, in an alternate universe, I’m a kick-ass parkour, free-running stuntman from hell.  I’ve had more than such character!

The Night Priest, A Darker Divine - Steal this Concept

Across the many fantasy RPGs, there is a plethora of “divine” character types – cleric, paladin, war priest, avenger, shadow priest, and so on. The Night Priest is not another one of these classes, but an alternate, darker concept or template that can be applied to an already existing one. Its inclusion in the game is most definitely at the discretion of the DM. Basically, [Read the article]

I'm Home, Finally.

Chatty just wrote an article, ending with the question, “What lessons from work and day jobs have given you good lessons for later career changes?” I was all set to answer as a comment on CH, but quickly realized I needed more room.  I normally don’t write long posts, but would appreciate it if you stayed until the end.  This ended up being kind of [Read the article]

Take a Break Sunday - Your PC can do WHAT?!

It’s Take a Break Sunday, which means chillin and grillin. Today you won’t get any cool RPG content or insightful gamer musings. In my relaxed state I can barely even get this computer to fix my breakfast.  Stupid computer.  However, as I was sitting here contemplating whether I should eat a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats for breakfast – or a bottle of Gummy Bear [Read the article]

Specialty Horses on Sale! 55%-65% off!

EDIT: Since the original posting, the prices have come down on regular horses. The prices below reflect that. I made a bunch of horses for a special role playing game project awhile back, and they’ve been sitting around ever since.  They are our normal Horse Minis, except that the top-bases are coated in sand (some of them have a little bit of grass).  These are [Read the article]

Playing with FATE: Creating a Huge-Ass-Snake Monster

Welcome back to our Playing with FATE series. Being the GM of any game definitely has it’s rewards, but it also has it’s challenges.  A big part of those challenges includes working those creative muscles – specifically envisioning, designing, and implementing adversaries for your group.  Sure, this can also be a reward, which is why I’m enjoying writing this particular post.  Today, I’m going to [Read the article]

State of the Shack (mucho importante)

Okay, not really mucho importante, but I thought I’d take this opportunity between our RPG Site of the Year award and our Snakes Theme Week to tell you about… our Snakes Theme Week!  And other stuff! Next Week A while back, we kind of stumbled into a theme week involving Lizardfolk (Brian Liberge is the man).  It went pretty well, and we decided to do [Read the article]
